MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY - In WTC Montevideo Free Zone, the Free Trade Zone of Services of World Trade Center Montevideo Complex, there are currently 102 companies that have chosen us to carry out their operations and provide their global services.

Over 1,200 people work in the tower, mainly young graduate professionals. Most of our clients come from the following economic sectors:

Financial services, agribusiness and trading and IT.

WTC Montevideo Free Zone is a member of the Uruguayan Chamber of Free Trade Zones, established in October 2008 with the aim of strengthening Uruguay’s Free Trade Zone regime and promoting the development of business platforms from the Uruguayan Free Trade Zones.

The business community that makes up the Uruguayan Chamber of Free Trade Zones (UYCFTZ) includes developers (operators) and users (direct and indirect) of the Uruguayan Free Trade Zones, who have defined and validated several objectives, such as contributing to building a suitable business environment to favor investment and sustainable economic development within the Free Trade Zones legal framework.

In this context, WTC Montevideo Free Zone organized a major event on Tuesday 17 May at World Trade Center Montevideo Auditorium. Over 140 businesspeople convoked by the Uruguayan Chamber of Free Trade Zones attended the event. The conference focused on the presentation of the Practical Manual on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

This manual contains the policies and procedures adopted by the Uruguayan Chamber of Free Trade Zones. The Chamber encourages its members to apply them in order to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

The conference was delivered by the Chamber’s advisor, Dr. Leonardo Costa, a renowned professional who explained how to use the manual and generated a space for networking which attendees and the mass media accredited found very interesting.

This important activity is part of the Series of Conferences and Courses organized by WTC Montevideo Free Zone every year for its community and for its clients, with the purpose of disseminating high added-value knowledge.
