BLOCKCHAIN at WTC Lugano

Dec 11, 2019

On November 7th WTC Lugano has successfully held its 27th general assembly and annual conference on the topic BLOCKCHAIN, at Lugano at the Villa Principe Leopoldo Hotel, with an article appearing in Corriere del Ticino, the first private publishing group in the Italian part of Switzerland.

We are particularly concerned about digitalization, cryptocurrency or technology BLOCKCHAIN.
In Ticino those involved in these sectors choose our WTC being considered as the "ideal location"
, a modular and agile context with modern technology and characterized by flexibility, hospitality and great care in offering administrative and secretarial services.

Our purpose this year was to create a climate of confidence between economic actors and to contribute to a process of innovation already begun in canton Ticino. There's still much to say, about this technology. To simply reduce it to Bitcoin and Digital World would be too simplistic.
BLOCKCHAIN is much more! It is a set of technologies, with enormous potential and global business opportunities. Some even say that it will revolutionize the economy; and perhaps this was exactly what the founding father of the Bitcoin software, Satoshi Nakamoto, meant when he said:"In twenty years it will either be gone or it will be a universal event".

We have invited four specialists to talk about their experiences about BLOCKCHAIN and its practical application, also called "the machine which help engender greater trust":
- Giacomo Poretti, head of SUPSI's "new technologies" department, who helped us to better understand what BLOCKCHAIN technology is and what are the application fields for the economic sector.
- Nicolas Jacquemart, head of Fintech Desc of FINMA, who explained us how the financial market supervisory authority has established precise rules and closely follows the evolution of the sector.
- Marco Vitale, a young entrepreneur and co-founder of the Quadrans Foundation, who uses BLOCKCHAIN technology, told us about his experience, supporting research, education and promotion protocols using BLOCKCHAIN technology.
- Lars Schlichting, Legal Tech consultant from Kellerhals Carrard, guided the debate followed by a session of questions & Answers, comments and observations from the participants.

At the end of the conference and after the ritual greetings, a convivial aperitif offered to all participants was an opportunity for exchange between members and friends of the World Trade Center Lugano, as well as a worthy crowning of the excellent success of the event.
