On Thursday, April 8, 2021 the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), which is also the World Trade Center Las Vegas (WTCLV), hosted leaders from across the Las Vegas meetings and convention industry including Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, The Venetian and The Palazzo and Wynn Las Vegas to celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) with a panel discussion.

The return to meeting with confidence and the abundance of new meeting and event space across Las Vegas was the subject of the panel, in celebration of the meetings, conventions and trade show industry. The panel featured Steve Hill, CEO/President of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which owns and operates the LVCC/WTCLV; Chandra Allison, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, The Venetian Resort; Chris Flatt, Executive Vice President of Hotel Sales & Marketing, Wynn Resorts; Stephanie Glanzer, Chief Sales Officer & Senior Vice President of Sales, MGM Resorts International, and Michael Massari, Chief Sales Officer, Caesars Entertainment.

The Las Vegas convention industry is getting back to business, and the destination is gearing up to host its first major trade show in more than a year, Informa Markets’ World of Concrete 2021. The show, taking place June 8-10, will mark the debut of the LVCC/WTCLV’s new, 1.4 million-square-foot West Hall expansion and the innovative Convention Center Loop.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak recently transferred COVID-19 mitigation measures to local authority, effective May 1, another positive indicator for the meetings and events industry in Las Vegas. New guidelines set by Clark County allow businesses, including resort areas, restaurants, bars, entertainment, attractions, retail, spas and more to operate at 80 percent capacity, with social distancing of 3 feet. Additionally, large gatherings with less than 20,000 people can be approved at 3 feet social distancing with up to 80% capacity if County guidelines are met. Face coverings remain required in public.

In preparation for the return of business, the LVCC/WTCLV has earned Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) STAR facility accreditation by ISSA, the world’s leading trade association for the cleaning industry.
