WTC Las Vegas Seeks New Business in Toronto

LAS VEGAS, NV, USA - The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), which operates the WTC Las Vegas in conjunction with Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ®, is on a mission to grow world-wide trade show attendance. International delegates are a critical part of the trade show landscape in Las Vegas and one of the strongest areas for growth. More and more, the international audience is a key segment for trade shows and conventions.

 In some instances, the international audience represents 20 to 30 percent of attendees. The 2014 International CES® for example, drew a record 40,828 professionals representing more than 140 countries- a great success for both the show and the destination. To ensure continued success for Las Vegas-based shows, the LVCVA is always looking for new ways to help our clients grow their global audience.

One unique way of accomplishing this goal is through a Trade Show Trade Mission. It provides trade show representatives the opportunity to visit countries with the fastest growing, largest markets so they can better promote international participation and attendance to their Las Vegas-based trade shows.

This June, representatives from seven companies and associations with ties to more than 30 Las Vegas-based trade shows traveled to Toronto, Canada. Canada is the number one source of international visitors to Las Vegas. With the help of the U.S. Commercial Service, each participant could target Canadian-based organizations, businesses and media for one-on-one or group meetings.

“Las Vegas provides a variety of global marketplaces that touch just about every major sector of business through our convention and trade show industry,” said Chris Meyer, vice president of global business sales for the LVCVA. “If our trade show clients find new exhibitors and attract more delegates, it ultimately helps Las Vegas bring more international business attendees supporting our number one economic engine, which is tourism.”

The relationships established through various avenues, including the Trade Show Trade Missions, are key to increasing an international audience, and cementing Las Vegas as a global business destination.
