Sep 23, 2016

Las Vegas, NV, USA - With the implosion of the final tower of the Riviera Hotel and Casino, the Las Vegas World Trade and Convention Center is moving forward with a $1.4 billion expansion and renovation project. This marks the conclusion of a series of demolition efforts at the property to move forward with the Las Vegas Convention Center District. The property is now being cleared and the site improvements will be made, allowing it to be used for outdoor exhibits and parking. Parking is expected to be available for CES 2017, the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology. CES is owned and operated by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™ licensee of the World Trade Center Las Vegas. Future plans for the site include the expansion and renovation of the existing Las Vegas World Trade and Convention Center, which is expected to expand the facility by 1.4 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of additional exhibition space.

As the No. 1 trade show destination in North America for hosting the most Trade Show News Network Top 250 shows, Las Vegas welcomes nearly 6 million convention delegates a year from more than 183 countries around the world. The Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center alone hosted 22% of convention attendees traveling to Southern Nevada in 2015 with an estimated economic impact of $2.1 billion.
