ConMin West Africa 2017 / National Mining Summit

Nov 22, 2016

LAGOS, NIGERIA - Today we are delighted to announce the partnership between Afrocet Montgomery/IMAG and the Ministry of Solid Minerals with the support of Deloitte, in the establishment of ConMin West Africa 2017 and the co-located National Mining Summit. The parties are excited about this initiative which is expected to contribute to the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s Mining Sector at large.

Nigeria has taken large strides in re-positioning the mining sector and the successful exploration and exploitation of its mineral resources has been prioritised as the next frontier of the opportunity for development. With 44 disparate minerals in over 500 locations; the sector’s potential is massive and the government anticipates contribution to mining GDP to exceed $25 billion by 2026. In order to fulfil this potential, the Government has outlined its plans for the sector in the recently launched Solid Minerals Roadmap. Key to this is the ambition to rebuild market confidence and attract foreign and local investment. It is our belief that a platform that aims to draw in national and international stakeholders and investors is key to aiding this process. The National Mining Summit, taking place between 25th – 26th April 2017 at the International Conference Center in Abuja, will act as a forum to do just this and showcase the unrivalled potential of the solid minerals sector in Nigeria. It will also act to outline the Government’s Roadmap and key policies; progress and regulation – thereby showing the international community that Nigeria’s Mining Sector is open for business.

The National Mining Summit will run alongside ConMin West Africa – a related Exhibition to service the rapidly growing construction machinery and mining industries in West Africa. The Exhibition will also be held at the International Conference Center in Abuja between 25th – 27th April 2017 and will act as a platform for key stakeholders, both regional and international, to converge and discuss business prospects and display leading technologies and equipment in both the construction and mining sectors. ConMin West Africa 2017 is expected to attract over 150 companies in 2017 who will exhibit their products and upwards of 3000 visitors from the West African Mining and Construction sectors.

The Exhibition and Summit is a joint-venture between IMAG – a subsidiary of the organiser of bauma and Afrocet Montgomery who run Africa’s largest mining show, ‘Electra Mining’ in Johannesburg. With both of these organisation’s breadth of expertise in the Event’s industry, this will be a well-organised platform of International repute. Furthermore, the Ministerial partnership is expected to attract key local, regional and international Mining stakeholders ranging from Federal Government, State Government, International Diplomats, Policy Makers, Mining Operators and many more.

Having Deloitte as an official strategic partner of The National Mining Summit will ensure that the Summit benefits from Deloitte’s unrivalled depth, breadth and quality of expertise in international mining. It will bring added repute to the Summit and is expected attract further interest from key industry leaders.
