On November 8th, 2018, the World Trade Center-Kansas City, hosted the first course of its Trade 101 Educational Series. The purpose of this session was to introduce businesses new to exporting to the many resources in the Greater Kansas City Region.
The two outstanding instructors were Jeff Waddell with MIQ Logistics, and Sally Pacheco with the U.S. Commercial Services, to whom we extend a special thank you for sharing their expertise with local businesses.
The Trade 101 course was an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of exporting and a step-by-step guide of how to get started in this challenging process. In his presentation, Mr. Waddell talked about the steps businesses need to take to ensure they are compliant with export regulations. He encouraged businesses to attend educational courses on all components of compliance to be empowered for success.
Sally Pacheco wrapped up the course talking about the resources available to businesses that export. She introduced the group to the Missouri International Trade & Investment Office, Kansas Department of Commerce, Missouri Department of Agriculture, Food Export Association of the Midwest, among others. Mrs. Pacheco also mentioned resources offered by the U.S. Government and highlighted the benefits of the export.gov platform.
The delegation of attendees was composed of entrepreneurs, small-business representatives, current exporting business representatives, and the World Trade Center - KC investors.
The World Trade Center- Kansas City thanks the speakers, partners, and attendees who made Trade 101 Educational Series a success!
