WTC Jaipur in association with JIESM, Jodhpur hosted a seminar on International Marketing : A contemporary approach to finding new markets and perpetual buyers with a focused discussion on handicraft and stone exports at conference hall, JIESM Jodhpur.

The seminar began with addressing the problems surrounding the centuries old export of handcrafted handicraft furniture and stone carving industry that has served as the lifeline of thousands of families in the district and has contributed hundreds of crores in taxes to the government exchequer .  Problems of succession, cost of logistics, financing the trade, difficulty to overcome typical moneylending process, language barriers and export rejections.

Mr. Ishwarchand, Office of Development Commissioner, Handicrafts – ministry of Textiles suggested that β€œrather than focusing on how to procure a large order, it is better to start with small export orders , focus on quality right from raw material purchase, have a standard logistics partner and always have a dependable banking relationship.” He added further that β€œthe industry can only thrive if newer technology is adopted, this will not only expedite the process but also save on process wastages.”

Mr. Gopal Sharma, Regional head, EPCH said β€œ today there is no escape to showcasing your products at national and international exhibitions hosted by Govt. and trade associations. The fairs plays an important role in finding newer buyers and vice versa an opportunity to foreign visitors to meet large number of manufacturers at one place. All artisans should make it a practice to attend at least 3-4 such exhibitions.”

Mr. Navneet Agarwal, Asst. Director- WTC Jaipur informed about the upcoming Global Economic Summit 2019, 6-8th March at WTC Mumbai that will bring together a lot of domestic and international participants and invited all the participants to take advantage of it.
