WTC Goa Participates in Workshop on IPR

WTC Goa participated at the State Level Workshop on IPR, Copyrights & Patents organised by Ignite-EDC Innovation Hub, Goa and Dhempe College of Arts and Science, for the budding entrepreneurs on 25 January 2020. 

Dr. Vrinda Borker, Principal, Dhempe College of Arts and Science,while welcoming the delegates requested all students to understand the importance of information retrieval and advised them to give due credit for all information downloaded from the internet for using the same in their projects. She was of the opinion that in this regard the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of the other must always be respected.

Ms Gautami Raikar, Founder of LawMate.in & Shudh Nyay and Accredited Mediator at Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation gave an in-dept presentation on the Intellectual Property, Copyright and Trademarks. Ms Raiker, explained what were the requirements for obtaining each one of them and the relevance of each of them and the process through which the different aspects of the IPR could be availed off.

Mr. Cyril Desouza, Assistant Director, Trade Promotion, World Trade Center Goa, spoke on the World Trade Centers Association's network of 327 World Trade Centers (WTC) in close to 100 countries and explained the different facilities that each WTC offers, through which the budding entrepreneurs could take advantage to upscale their marketing efforts to attain global scale. Mr. Desouza also emphasised during his presentation that each entrepreneur must take the help of the Intellectual Property Rights to safeguard their products from being copied by other manufacturers.
Mr. Deepak Parab, Nodal officer, State Patent Information Center (PIC) Spoke on the different facilities and schemes that the centre offers. He also explained the processes for availing the different registrations as provided under the IPR umbrella.
