Women’s Entrepreneur Day-International Ambassador

Mar 23, 2020

Rani Dabrai, Director of World Trade Center Dublin (WTCD), has been formally invited to represent Ireland as an International Ambassador for Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. This event takes place in November of each year at the United Nations in New York City. Founder and President of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Wendy Diamond, officially welcomed Rani as the new Irish representative.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) is a movement which exists to enable women in business to alleviate poverty globally, and empower economically vulnerable women and girls. The WED Ambassadors work globally to spread the WED grassroots mission and message to empower women and girls to become active participants in the economy by igniting a network of female leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to initiate start-ups, drive economic expansion and advance communities around the world.

“It’s inspiring to see women across the globe unite for a single cause,” said Wendy Diamond, Founder, and President of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. “By contributing their time, efforts and resources to Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, they are not only celebrating, supporting and empowering women in business in over 100 countries but also contributing to global unification.”

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day will be celebrated globally on November 19th, 2020, and at the United Nations in New York City on November 15th. It is the world’s largest grassroots movement and mission dedicated to celebrating, supporting and empowering women worldwide.

Additionally, WED will launch the #ChooseWOMEN initiative on December 4th, 2020, a global social media initiative dedicated to inspiring women and men to pledge their support to a women-owned business or cause.

Other members of the WED movement include Anna Sui (International Fashion Designer), Her Royal Highness Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, Shanu Hinduja (Chairperson Hinduja Foundation U.S), Kathleen King (Founder Tate’s Bake Shop), Eileen Murray (Co-CEO Bridgewater Associates), and Her Excellency Inga Rhonda King (Seventy-Fourth President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations).

WED Ambassador achievements include funding 500 Syrian refugee girls to attend high school in Jordan; the founding of a nation-wide entrepreneurship training program for 60,000 female college students and early-stage entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia; and the awarding by the United Nations of 500 microloans to impoverished women so they can start their own businesses, just to name a few.

As the Irish Ambassador at the World Trade Center in Dublin, Rani and the WTCD team will be launching a series of initiatives and campaigns in support of entrepreneurial development and support for women in Ireland.
