WTC Bhubaneswar Observes World Trade Day

World Trade Center Bhubaneswar (WTCB) observed World Trade Day on 22 June 2019 at the Hotel Swosti Premium. His Excellency Governor of Odisha Prof. Ganeshi Lal inaugurated the trade day celebration and exhorted to the group and members to make the optimum utilization of the WTC’s global network present in more than 100 countries and create win-win situations between the producers, consumers and facilitators. The thematic focus was on International Trade to unravel the challenges and opportunities for India and Odisha. 

Capt. Somesh Batra, the Chairman, World Trade Center Bhubaneswar & Vice Chairman, World Trade Center Mumbai delivered the welcome address where he acknowledged the achievements of WTCB in short time and how his team working extra hours to the Odisha’s best to the world and bring the best of the world to Odisha. 

Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, the Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Industries, MSME, spoke highly of the capacity of Industry and MSME to transform the economy and how he strongly feels the need for a full fledged office for WTCB. 

Dr. Nitin Jawale, IAS, Managing Director, Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha (IPICOL), Government of Odisha spoke of the increasing need of the development of eastern India and how it can hugely contribute to the Prime Minister’s target of making India a 5 trillion dollar economy.

His Excellency Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal spoke highly of Odisha’s culture, tradition and brotherhood. He stressed on the development of villages and urged corporate leaders to advance the villages’ access to global market as the objective to pursue for inclusive development. Prof. Lal suggested the WTC and its members to work in this direction especially in collaboration with central and state government sponsored schemes. 

Awards were presented to WTCB member companies in different categories who are doing inspiring work in trade promotion and facilitation. WTCB signed two MoUs with Industry partners like Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HRAO) and Batoi Systems Pvt Ltd. Sectorial Think Tanks which were designed last year has been revamped to add new conveners, co-conveners and members. 

Leaders from different think tanks at WTCB like Shri. J.K. Mohanty, Convener, Tourism Think Tank, Shri. Ashwini Rath, Convener, Start-up, Innovation & Technology Think Tank, Shri. Mahendra Gupta, Convener, Smart City & Infrastructure, Think Tank, Shri. Pradipta Mohanty, Convener, Agriculture & Food Processing Think Tank, and Ms. Sanghamitra Jena, Convener, Women Forum, presented their detailed account of activities and shared their plan for near future.
