World Trade Center Bhubaneswar in association with Urban Micro Business Center organized a workshop on Quality Control & Management on Tuesday, 12th December 2017 here in Bhubaneswar. The workshop was organized with an objective to provide an insight on various quality control measures and quality management techniques with special focus on micro enterprises. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Subrata Panigrahi. Mr. Panigrahi is the founder Director of Institute of Quality Environment and Management Studies serving in Eastern India, based in Bhubaneswar. With over 20 years of experience Mr. Panigrahi has extensive exposure on the subject and has worked with countries such as South Africa, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and South East Asia.

While facilitating the workshop Mr. Panigrahi firstly deliberated about the prerequisites of quality control. He further highlighted on 5’S model, quality standardization and discussed critical aspects such as market survey, process control, customer satisfaction etc. Deliberating on the economics of quality he advocated for appropriate knowledge of regulations and techniques of production by the personnel engaged in the production units as indispensible. “Achievement of due standards of quality and effective marketing of the products is only possible through creation of awareness and technical expertise” he added. He also addressed various topics such as importance of environmental demonstrations in terms of hygiene, waste management, and shelf life analysis as key factors influencing quality management at the productions units. He educated the entrepreneurs on how establishment of control mechanisms could be set in place by implementing appropriate testing procedures. 

Earlier in her welcome address Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Manager, WTC Bhubaneswar set forth the objective of the workshop and also took the opportunity to introduce Mr. Subrata Panigrahi to the delegates. She further highlighted about the constant endeavours of World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar towards uplifting of the socio-economic portfolio of the state. “Micro enterprises are one of the major industry stakeholders who play a pivotal role in influencing and boosting the trade, commerce and economy of a country” she said. Such enterprises must be encouraged and provided with suitable mentoring from time to time empowering them to develop not only into a successful but a sustainable business unit within a certain span of time” she added. 

A technical round of questions and answers by entrepreneurs pertaining to the units such as bakery & confectioneries, spices and food processing, apparel manufacturing, packaging, marketing, training services, eateries etc. further added immense value to the workshop.
