Webinar on “Udyam Registration Process for MSMEs”

In its endeavor to constantly handhold and support the MSMEs and standing strong with the fraternity during this unprecedented crisis situation of COVID 19 pandemic World Trade Center Bhubaneswar associated in a series on webinars along with the MSME Development Institute Cuttack under the Ministry of MSMEs, Government of India. The series of webinars aimed to empower the MSMEs with the detailed insights of the supportive measures being provided by National Government which shall assist the entrepreneurs in developing their enterprise. As part of this series a webinar was organized to deliberate on the Udyam Registration Process.

In his address Mr. P. K. Gupta, IEDS, Joint Director and HOO, MSME-DI, Cuttack highlighted Udyam Registration (also known as MSME Registration) as nothing but a government registration that is provided along with a recognition certificate and a unique number and which provides an identity to the MSME. He also explained as to how by having Udyam registration would benefit the MSMEs to participate in different government orders and tenders.

Dr. Shibananda Nayak, Assistant Director, MSME – DI Cuttack made a detailed presentation on the process of Udyam Registration. He shared insights on the registration process 1, 2 and 3 which emphasises on the entry of basic information, calculation of investment and turnover, cross over limit or fall below, updating information, facilitation and grievance redressal mechanism. He also deliberated on obtaining of NIC code and the entire registration process.
Earlier, Ms. Nishita Mann, IES, Deputy Director, MSME DI Cuttack in her welcome address spoke about the massive size of MSMEs operating in India. Given the dynamics of the sector she advocated for Udyam registration for all the MSMEs in order to make the sector more formal and organized. She also highlighted how the MSME sector has been instrumental in serving the nation in times of pandemic by getting into massive production of masks, sanitizers, gloves and other sanitization products without which meeting the massive and sudden demand would not have possible.

Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Center Bhubaneswar stressed upon organizing registration camps for getting micro enterprises especially for those run by women where the entrepreneurs would get on the spot online registration on Udyam portal and would also be explained the benefits of such registration.

The program witnessed an interactive question & answer session adding much value to the subject discussed.
