Online Workshop guides MSMEs on New Registration

The nation is currently facing the adverse consequences due to the spread of COVID 19 pandemic. In the existing scenario the Governments are also taking relevant measures to bring back people to their engagements by setting norms.. Constant efforts are being taken by the Government trying to revive the economy and providing assistance to the trade and industrial fraternity. A similar and welcome step taken by the Government of India is redefinition of the MSMEs enhancing the scope of various enterprises to get included under the purview of MSMEs and thereby gain benefit out of the relief measures being facilitated for them. The latest development in this process has been the Udyam Registration. In this context World Trade Center Bhubaneswar in association with the MSME Development Institute, Cuttack Government of India and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India organized an online workshop on “Udyam Registration”. The workshop aimed to provide an online demo to the attendees on the process of how the new as well as existing entrepreneurs should be getting registered.

Dr. Sukanata Sahoo, Director (In-charge), MSME Development Institute Cuttack, Government of India in his address initially spoke on the impact of CVOID 19 on the MSMEs in India and shared the details of the new definition of MSMEs and the modifications there off. He further shared a detailed presentation covering the step by step process of the new registration system. He highlighted the differences in the processes involved for new enterprises who don’t possess an MSME registration and for existing enterprises which were already registered under the previous system. He also explained about the classification of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and other various categories of organization. He also specified minutes on the required Income Tax return documents, mandated fields and the exemptions allowed till March 2021. 

Mr. S.K. Hota, Additional Director, Directorate of Industries, Government of Odisha in his address spoke about the support mechanism available for the MSMEs of the State. He also highlighted the role of various District Industries Centers (DICs) and spoke on the assistance available for a new MSME through the DICs for any issues relating to the Udyam Registration process. 

Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Assistant Director, World Trade Center Bhubaneswar in her address introduced the dignitaries to the attendees. She spoke about the objective of the workshop and its importance in the existing industrial scenario.
