Meeting for Understanding Post COVID Export Issues

World Trade Center Bhubaneswar actively participated in a virtual meeting called by the office of Additional Director General of Foreign Trade, New Delhi & Department of MSME, Government of Odisha. The primary objective of the meeting was to provide opportunity to the exporters to share with appropriate authorities the difficulties they are facing in the post Covid situation and also to understand the expectations they have from the Governments as remedies & relief measures.

Mr Tapan Mazumdar, Additional DGFT,  New Delhi, in his address spoke about the enormous support mechanisms being worked out the Central Government for enhancing the exports from the country. While speaking about the challenges posed by COVID to international trade he deliberated on the various schemes developed by the DGFT for handholding the exporters during the challenging period. He urged the State Government to work in collaboration with the Central Government in executing the initiatives being taken up and also support the exporters.

Mr. Satyabrata Sahu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of  Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of Odisha, in his address deliberated on strengthening the export ecosystem in the state. He urged for the Central Government for re-establishment of the DGFT office in the State.

World Trade Center Bhubaneswar facilitated participation of its exporter members in the meeting and was represented by Dr. Kamlesh Mishra, President, Sea Food Exporters Association of India Odisha Region and Mr. Rajen Padhi, Commercial Director, B-One Sea Food Exporters. Major issues such as release of funds under MIES scheme, logistics issues with containers stuck at trade borders, inconveniences in the export documentation & clearance processes etc. were discussed by them in an interactive format. 

The meeting concluded by the issues been taken due note of by the relevant authorities promising necessary support and action.
