May 18, 2017

ROGERS, AR, USA - The World Trade Center Arkansas is participating in the State International Development Organizations, Inc. (SIDO) 2017 annual conference in Washington D.C. from Tuesday to Thursday.

SIDO is the premiere U.S. organization dedicated to supporting state international trade agencies and the only national organization focused exclusively on state international trade development.

This year’s conference will feature many seminars and educational sessions and Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross will present the President’s trade agenda Tuesday afternoon. Vice President Mike Pence will be the keynote speaker on Thursday after which Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin will give remarks. The 2017 program can be viewed here.

In addition to these, CEO of World Trade Center Arkansas’ partner IBT Online, John Worthington will be leading a seminar called “Going Online to Boost Exports” on Wednesday. IBT Online specializes in equipping small businesses to sell online in international markets and often offers free webinars.

“This year’s Washington Forum comes at an important time for international trade in our nation and around the world,” said Manny Mencia, president of SIDO and senior vice president of international trade and business development for Enterprise, Florida. “The President has made trade one of his top priorities and one could argue this is one of the most pivotal times in our nation’s history regarding the role international trade plays on our overall competitiveness, workforce, and economy. We have an opportunity to help develop and shape new policies, while educating the community on the importance of international trade.”

The World Trade Center Arkansas will hear from federal partners, industry experts, and international partners on the latest policies and trade programs. They will join SIDO leaders, Governors, Cabinet Secretaries, business leaders, and foreign investors to discuss best practices and opportunities to invest in our states.

The mission of the World Trade Center Arkansas is to grow trade and increase Arkansas exports by connecting Arkansas businesses to the world through international trade services.
