WTC Arkansas attends 2017 Agribusiness Conference

ROGERS, ARKANSAS, USA - The Agribusiness Conference provides information and agricultural policy education to farmers, agribusiness professionals, students and educators across the Mid-South.

The World Trade Center Arkansas attended the 23rd Arkansas State University Agribusiness Conference of Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017.

This year’s conference focused on the agricultural economy, the impact of the 2016 presidential election, agricultural policy and strategy for the next farm bill, and the outlook for commodity, credit and farmland markets. Speakers for the conference included figures such as Rex Nelson, senior vice president and director of corporate community relations for Simmons First National Corporation who is also a published author and expert on Arkansas history and culture.

Denise Thomas, Director of Africa and Middle East Trade Relations for the World Trade Center Arkansas attended as the WTC-AR’s representative.

“We wanted to have a presence at this conference so we could support Arkansas agricultural producers,” Thomas said. “There are plenty of opportunities for Arkansas growers and producers to capacity build by exporting their goods. We wanted to let them know that we support the state in all trade matters and offer resources to help these companies identify new opportunities and provide support in their growth stages.”

Thomas also had the opportunity to speak with Wes Ward, the Arkansas Agriculture Secretary about visiting multiple Arkansas companies to identify areas the World Trade Center can offer support.
