Export Trophy Presented at WTC Algiers

ALGIERS, ALGERIA - The trophy for Algeria's best non-hydrocarbon exporter for last year's "Export Award 2014" was given Tuesday evening to the Boukellal Mohamed Tahar Company specialized in packaging and export of dates.

The award ceremony, held in Algiers by the World Trade Center Algiers for the 12th consecutive year, took place in presence of Minister of Trade Amara Benyounes and General Manager of Customs Kaddour Bentahar.

The "Boukellal Mohamed Tahar Company", which activates in the packaging and export of "Deglet Nour" dates since 2010, has exported over 2,600 tons of dates for a value estimated at around USD 4 million in 2014, according to its director. 80% of its products are exported to Russia and the countries of Eastern Europe.

Organised annually since 2003, this award recognizes and highlights the best Algerian companies, particularly SMEs, in the field of non-oil exports.

The prize was handed over by a jury chaired by the WTC Algiers and composed of representatives of the General  Manager of Customs, the National Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (Algex), the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), the Business Leaders Forum (FCE) and the National Association of Algerian Exporters (Anexal).

Two encouragement prizes were also awarded to "General Emballage" company specializing in manufacturing and corrugated board processing and Sarl El Wiam of from the Kabyle region activating in the processing and recovery of cork.

The Egyptian El Sewedy Cables Algérie joint stock company won the special award of the jury while the Trophy of  Honor was awarded to the N'gaous Conserves joint stock company.
