Creating Unicorns from Innovations

This was the theme of an interesting Innovation Seminar organized by the World Trade Center (WTC) Navi Mumbai, D Y Patil University School of Management, IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Navi Mumbai and Creative Ideas in Action (CIIA) on October 19, 2022. The Seminar held at DYPUSOM campus at Belapur attracted more than 50 participants from Industry/ Start-ups/ Services sector as well as equal number of students.

Mr. Jayant Ghate Advisor of the WTC Navi Mumbai welcomed the participants and explained the role of the WTC in promotion of the Innovation Ecosystem especially in the International Trade Development. He expressed the view that India was rich in terms of Ideas, Innovations and Incubation and was doing well in all these areas. He added that the WTC Navi Mumbai promoted by Raheja Universal Group would extend its help to improve and strengthen these.

Mr. Jayant Khadilkar Chairman of IMC Chamber Navi Mumbai, in his opening remarks, highlighted the importance of an Incubator in industry and how the Incubator should function for leading to effective results. Mr. R K Jain, past Chairman of IMC Chamber Navi Mumbai spoke about services of the IMC Chamber and commented upon how Unicorns emerge by giving examples of companies like PayTm and Facebook.

Mr. Shankar Jadhav of BSE explained the support services of BSE in promotion of Start-ups. Incubation and financing are the keys of success of Start-ups in India. He mentioned that during last two three years there is a significant growth of Unicorns in India and India would do well in promotion of such ideas, innovations and start-ups in the immediate future.

Mr. Baldevkrishan Sharma Chairman of Marshall Foundation and CIIA was the keynote speaker and he explained how ideas can lead to innovations and how innovations can lead to unicorns through appropriate incubation. He informed the participants about the forthcoming CIIA Event of Innovation Competition & Awards during February 2023 and how it would help school and college students as well as start-ups in thinking about innovations in more creative ways.

Other speakers included Mr. Saurabh Bajpeyee of CapitalBoat and Mr. Siddhesh Sabnis of IMTS Solutions. Mr. Jitendra Sakpal of CIIA moderated this fruitful event.
